You Are the Mansur! Yuri Rules at Longines Global Champions Tour of Cannes

Mdmar – LGCT – Cannes

The floodlights were shining, the grandstands were packed, and the French Riviera delivered another unforgettable night of top sport as the CSI5* Lamborghini Cannes 1.50m Jump-Off unfolded in Cannes. In a thrilling battle against the clock, Yuri Mansur stormed to victory aboard Vitiki, stopping the clock in a blistering 36.17 seconds. Philipp Weishaupt and Oreo D.R. pushed him all the way to claim second in 36.72 seconds, while home favourite Jeanne Sadran delighted the French crowd by securing third aboard Dexter de Kerglenn in 36.94 seconds.

Yuri Mansur could wipe the smile off his face, as he explained: “I haven’t been to this show since 2019 and i couldn’t be happier to be back. Jumping here in Cannes reminds of being back in Brazil. The support of the crowd makes me want to do better every time.”

He went on to add “Vitiki owes me nothing, and the test from Uliano suited us perfectly!”

As the lights of Cannes reflected across the Mediterranean and anticipation began to build for tomorrow’s Longines Global Champions Tour Grand Prix, another thrilling night of sport had already etched its place into the story of the 2026 season. If tonight was any indication, the best may still be yet to come.

The opening round proved every bit the test expected, with 11 combinations finding the key to a demanding track that punished even the smallest mistakes while several major names were left frustrated on the sidelines including Pieter Devos (Jarina J), Kim Emmen (Keavanta-C), Michael Pender (HHS Cyprus), Sergio Alvarez Moya (No Nonsense TN) and Jur Vrieling (VDL Mattias) all finished on four faults and narrowly missed out. Elsewhere, Simon Delestre and Olga van de Kruishoeve, Carlos Hank Guerreiro and H5 Chilipepper Z, Kaitlin Campbell and Cosm Hesed, plus Jean-Luc Mourier and Forever Joy de Tus saw their hopes ended with retirements, proving just how unforgiving the Cannes course had become.

How the thrilling jump-off played out:

The first target was set by Olivier Philippaerts aboard Ragazzo AV, but two costly rails at the third fence and the LGCT oxer left the Belgian with eight faults in 37.94 seconds. A promising start quickly unravelled for Nayel Nassar and ESI Ali. The second fence fell early, the LGCT oxer also hit the sand, and another rail at the final fence saw them finish on 12 faults in 38.48 seconds.

The pace immediately lifted when Arthur Le Vot and Djinn Cece entered the arena. Up by 0.34 seconds at the split, the French combination looked set to throw down a serious challenge, only for the final fence to come crashing down, leaving them on four faults in a rapid 35.90 seconds.

Risk paid off for Philipp Weishaupt and Oreo D.R. as they became the first combination to crack the jump-off. A bold and attacking round stopped the clock at 36.72 seconds and, crucially, left all the fences in place to take over the lead. Despite stopping the clock quicker than his brother, Maximilian Weishaupt couldn’t match the clear round. The influential LGCT oxer fell from the cups for DSP Omerta Incipit, leaving them on four faults in 36.09 seconds.

A beautifully judged ride from Edwina Tops-Alexander and Cydello kept the pressure firmly on the leader. Although 0.61 seconds down at the split, the pair delivered a polished double clear in 39.08 seconds to slot into second. The crowd found their voice as LGCT Grand Prix of Rabat winner Anastasia Nielsen guided Action Man to a superb clear round. Stopping the clock in 39.23 seconds, the Monaco-based rider moved into provisional third with only a handful left to come.

Everything changed when Yuri Mansur entered the ring aboard Vitiki. Already 0.41 seconds ahead at the split, the Brazilian took a daring shot to the final fence and crossed the line in 36.17 seconds, snatching the lead by 0.55 seconds.

A rail at the second fence proved costly for Antonia Pettersson Häggström and Qartoon van de Plataan. Despite a determined effort, four faults in 40.52 seconds saw them slip down the order.

The packed grandstands held their breath as Scott Brash and Hello Jefferson attacked the course. Holding a 0.29-second advantage at the split and looking faster than the leader, victory disappeared in an instant when the final fence came down, leaving them on four faults in 35.85 seconds.

Last to challenge, Jeanne Sadran and Dexter de Kerglenn carried the hopes of the home nation. Producing a composed double clear in 36.94 seconds, they moved into third place, but it wasn’t enough to deny Yuri Mansur and Vitiki a memorable victory in Cannes.

The stage is set for the crown jewel of the weekend.
