Weissmuller produced a determined front-running display to land the Sealine Cup, the feature event of the fourth meeting of the 2026/27 racing season at Al Rayyan Racecourse on Thursday, 22 October. The nine-race card, staged on turf, saw trainer Hamad Al-Jehani enjoy a remarkable evening with four winners, including the feature race. In the Sealine Cup, the Yousef Ali Al Rumaihi-owned gelding showed tremendous resolve under Szczepan Mazur, regaining the lead after a brief challenge from Taxiwala before holding off the fast-finishing Rothstein by ½ length. Mr Saad Ali Al Kubaisi, Deputy Director of the QREC Registration & Studbook Department, presented the Sealine Cup following the day’s feature race.

The evening opened with Son Of Sarabi breaking his maiden at the 17th attempt, making all to score on his seasonal reappearance. Grendel Al Shahania followed with a thrilling debut success in Race 2, edging stablemate Diva Al Shahania by a short head to complete a one-two for Al Shahania Stud and trainer Rudy Nerbonne. Another debutant, Tiswahum, produced a devastating late burst to take Race 3 before Wahdan swept clear in Race 4 to open his winning account at the 12th attempt, giving Lukas Delozier a double on the evening. Prince D’ossau registered his fourth career victory with a decisive success in Race 5 while Seagolazo made an immediate impression on his Qatar debut, breaking his maiden in Race 6. Weissmuller then claimed the Sealine Cup in Race 7, securing his fifth career win and completing a double for trainer Hamad Al-Jehani. The trainer’s remarkable evening continued as Chaconne made a commanding Qatar debut in Race 8 to complete a treble for Al-Jehani and a double for Nicolas Baudet. La Quyood rounded off the card with a comfortable victory in Race 9, bringing up a four-timer for Al-Jehani and a double for Szczepan Mazur.

Weissmuller makes all in impressive seasonal return
Weissmuller (Bungleinthejungle x Blushing Gal) made a winning seasonal reappearance in Race 7, the Sealine Cup, a 1400m Thoroughbred Conditions contest for 4yos+ in Class 2, featuring 9 runners, with a determined front-running performance to score by ½ length. The 4yo bay gelding, carrying the colours of Yousef Ali Al Rumaihi, was prepared by Hamad Al-Jehani and partnered by Szczepan Mazur. The victory marked the fifth success of Weissmuller’s career and completed a double on the card for his trainer.

Breaking sharply from stall 7, Weissmuller wasted no time in taking command, setting the pace with the accomplished sprinter Taxiwala (Holy Roman Emperor) in close pursuit. Thor’s Hammer (Night Of Thunder), Thunder Flow (Night Of Thunder) and Ends Of The Earth (Territories) followed the leading pair while Rothstein (Invincible Army), who would eventually finish second, was held up towards the rear. Weissmuller continued to dictate matters through the early and middle stages although Taxiwala remained a persistent threat. Passing the turn inside the final 800m, Taxiwala mounted a serious challenge and briefly wrested the lead from Weissmuller. His advantage proved short-lived, however, as Mazur’s mount responded immediately to regain command. Turning for home, Weissmuller continued to gallop strongly, maintaining his advantage despite mounting pressure from behind. Rothstein, meanwhile, was making rapid progress from the rear, producing an impressive finishing burst to emerge as the principal danger. Thor’s Hammer also finished strongly, but Weissmuller refused to yield, finding enough under Mazur’s urgings to hold off his fast-closing pursuers. Rothstein was gaining ground with every stride, but the line came just in time for the determined winner.

Rothstein, representing Wathnan Racing, finished a rapidly closing second under Soufiane Saadi for trainer Alban de Mieulle. Thor’s Hammer, sporting the silks of Al Rufaa Racing, secured third, a further ¾ length back, with Marco Casamento aboard for trainer Gassim Al Ghazali.
La Quyood powers clear to seal Al-Jehani four-timer
La Quyood (Nieshan x La Musawama) produced a decisive finishing effort to land Race 9, the 1600m Purebred Arabian Conditions contest for 4yos, a Class 5 event featuring 5 runners, scoring by 1½ lengths to record his third victory in just 7 career starts. The bay gelding, carrying the colours of Khalifa bin Sheail Al-Kuwari, was saddled by Hamad Al-Jehani and partnered by Szczepan Mazur. The success completed a remarkable four-timer for the trainer on the evening and a double for the jockey.

La Quyood settled into third in the early stages, tracking the pace-setting Guindol Dei Ribo (Dahess), with Night De Mireval (Dahess) between the pair. Guindol Dei Ribo maintained a firm grip on the lead through much of the early and middle stages while La Quyood briefly improved into second before dropping back to third. Meanwhile, Al Bayyin Grine (Al Mourtajez) advanced from the rear to challenge the leader, momentarily taking command before Guindol Dei Ribo responded to regain his advantage. Turning for home, La Quyood quickened again to move into second and immediately mounted a serious challenge to Guindol Dei Ribo. The pair soon drew clear of their three rivals and became locked in a fierce battle through the early part of the home straight, matching strides as neither appeared willing to concede. However, passing the 200m mark, La Quyood found another gear under Mazur’s urgings, gradually asserting his superiority before stretching clear in the closing stages to register a comfortable victory.

Guindol Dei Ribo, representing Al Hajaj Farm, held on comfortably for second under Nicolas Baudet, completing an impressive one-two for trainer Hamad Al-Jehani. Inaya Grine (No Risk Al Maury), carrying the colours of Salmeen bin Abdulla Al-Jabri, finished third, a further 7½ lengths behind, with Arnaud De Lepine aboard for trainer Ahmed Al Jehani. She, too, finished well clear of the remaining runners.
Chaconne shines on Qatar debut with commanding victory
Chaconne (Sea The Stars x Danilova) made a striking Qatar debut in Race 8, the 1600m Thoroughbred Conditions contest for 3yos, a Class 2 event with 9 runners heading to the start, producing an impressive pillar-to-post performance to score by 2¼ lengths. The promising bay filly, carrying the colours of Khalifa bin Sheail Al-Kuwari, was sent out by Hamad Al-Jehani and partnered by Nicolas Baudet, completing a treble on the day for her trainer and a double for her jockey. Making just her third career appearance, Chaconne maintained her excellent record, having won on debut and finished second on her only other start, both in France, before extending her tally to two victories from three outings with this authoritative success.

Breaking smartly from stall 3, Chaconne immediately seized the initiative and established a lead she would never relinquish. Reverberate (Night Of Thunder) and Which Wolf Wins (Holy Roman Emperor) were initially her closest pursuers before Quarter (Earthlight) advanced into second, with Silca Blue (Space Blues) moving into third. The order at the head of the field remained largely unchanged through the middle stages as Chaconne maintained a strong gallop, keeping her rivals at bay and travelling comfortably under Baudet. Turning for home, Chaconne continued to dictate matters, showing no signs of weakening as her pursuers began to come under pressure. Responding generously when Baudet asked her to quicken, she maintained her commanding advantage throughout the home straight and galloped on strongly to seal an emphatic victory. Behind her, Reverberate and Which Wolf Wins both produced powerful late efforts, making rapid headway through the closing stages. However, neither could seriously threaten the winner, and their attention soon turned to a fierce battle for the minor honours.
Which Wolf Wins, representing Al Thumama Racing, secured second under Faleh Bughenaim for trainer Ibrahim Saeed Al Malki. Reverberate, sporting the silks of Fahad Ali Al-Arumaihi, finished just a short head behind in third, with Lukas Delozier aboard for Hamad Al-Jehani, giving the trainer another podium finish to complement his treble of winners.
Seagolazo strikes on Qatar debut
Seagolazo (Havana Grey x Soho Susie) made an immediate impact on his first appearance in Qatar, breaking his maiden in Race 6, the 2000m Thoroughbred Handicap (70-90) for 3yos+, with a determined ½-length victory. The 4yo grey gelding, carrying the colours of HE Mansoor bin Ebrahim Al-Mahmoud, was saddled by Gassim Al Ghazali and partnered by Marco Casamento. Having finished second on his final two starts in the UK, Seagolazo made the breakthrough at the first attempt for his new connections.

Breaking smartly from stall 2, Seagolazo was settled in fourth by Casamento, travelling comfortably within striking distance of the leaders. Kaytwo (Kodiac) took the field along through the early and middle stages, with Blewburton (Saxon Warrior) his closest pursuer. Passing the first turn, Seagolazo improved into third and continued to make steady headway, moving into second around the home turn as Casamento prepared to launch his challenge. Turning for home, Seagolazo quickened strongly and set about closing down the long-time leader. Responding generously to Casamento’s urgings, he swept past the tiring Kaytwo inside the final 300m and took command. However, the race was far from over as Battle Of Maldon (Saxon Warrior), who had raced last early on before making progress from the rear, and El Chaco (Al Kazeem), who had also been held up behind midfield, unleashed powerful late runs. The pair rapidly overhauled their rivals and closed significantly on Seagolazo inside the final 200m, but the leader dug deep and found enough to preserve his advantage all the way to the line.
Battle Of Maldon, representing Sharq Stud, finished a fast-closing second under Jefferson Smith for trainer Mohd Ahmed Al-Sulaiti. Stable ownership companion El Chaco, also carrying the colours of Sharq Stud but trained by Owaida Salem Al Hajri, took third under Alberto Sanna, a further ¾ length behind, completing a strong late showing for the owner’s two runners.
Prince D’ossau powers clear for fourth career win
Prince D’ossau (Al Tair x Diva Des Eaux) produced a powerful finishing effort to land Race 5, the 1600m Purebred Arabian Handicap (50-70) for 3yos+, a Class 4 contest featuring a full field of 16 runners, scoring by 2 lengths. The 6yo roan gelding, owned and trained by Ibrahim Saeed Ibrahim Al Malki, was partnered by Faleh Bughenaim and recorded his fourth career victory.

Breaking well from stall 12, Prince D’ossau settled comfortably behind the leading group as Tayyar Al Shahania (Jaafer ASF) took the early initiative, followed by Mesaieed (Majd Al Arab), Amoor (General) and AJS Burkaan (AF AlBahar). Mesaieed soon moved to the front and dictated the pace until the approach to the home straight. Meanwhile, Prince D’ossau, Mughayrh Alfalah (AF AlBahar) and Billythekid Pompadour (Al Mamun Monlau) travelled comfortably in midfield, conserving their energy for the decisive stages. Approaching the home turn, Prince D’ossau began to make rapid headway, sweeping past his rivals to enter the home straight in command although Tayyar Al Shahania remained a persistent challenger. Mughayrh Alfalah also made sharp progress from midfield, moving into second inside the final 300m while Billythekid Pompadour advanced strongly to join the battle. Prince D’ossau, however, found extra whenever challenged and continued to draw clear through the final 200m, keeping his pursuers firmly at bay to seal a convincing success.
As Tayyar Al Shahania weakened after his sustained efforts near the front, Mughayrh Alfalah and Billythekid Pompadour fought out the minor honours. Mughayrh Alfalah, carrying the colours of Abdulrahman Ahmad Al-Subaey, secured second comfortably under Soufiane Saadi for trainer Mohammed Al Ghazali. Billythekid Pompadour, representing Sharq Stud, finished third, a further 1¼ lengths behind, with Alberto Sanna aboard for trainer Mohd Ahmed Al-Sulaiti.
Wahdan sweeps clear to break maiden
Wahdan (Mister Ginoux x El Zouarda) made a winning seasonal reappearance in Race 4, the 1600m Purebred Arabian Maiden for 4yos, a Class 6 contest with 13 runners going to post, producing a devastating late surge to score by 2½ lengths. The bay gelding, carrying the colours of Khalifa bin Mohamed bin Khalifa Abdullah Al-Attiyah, was sent out by Hamad Al-Jehani and partnered by Lukas Delozier, who completed a double on the day. Having ended last season with a placed finish, Wahdan opened his winning account at the 12th attempt.

Breaking well from stall 11, Wahdan was held up towards the rear by Delozier, who allowed him to find his rhythm in the early stages. Siwar (Majd Al Arab) took the initiative, briefly coming under pressure from HM Al Jadwal (Mister Ginoux) and AJS Al Hareth (Dahess), who subsequently settled into second and third respectively. The trio maintained that order until the penultimate turn while Wahdan steadily improved his position, travelling comfortably into midfield as the race unfolded. Approaching the home turn, Siwar continued to lead from his two closest pursuers, but several runners behind were beginning to make their presence felt. AJS Sayyaad (AF AlBahar) and AJS Al Mourtajez (Al Mourtajez), who had been tracking the leading trio, both advanced strongly and looked serious contenders entering the home straight. However, the complexion of the race changed dramatically inside the final 200m as Wahdan unleashed a devastating turn of foot, sweeping past his rivals to seize command. He continued to accelerate through the final 100m, putting daylight between himself and the chasing pack to register an emphatic victory.
Durra (Al Mourtajez), who had raced towards the rear for much of the contest, finished strongly to claim second for owner Khalifa bin Sheail Al-Kuwari, trainer Ahmed Al Jehani and jockey Nicolas Baudet. Bkheela (Al Mouwaffak), another to make significant late progress from the back, took third, a further 2 lengths behind, representing Al Wajeeh Stud under Alberto Sanna for trainer Ibrahim Saeed Al Malki. Neither could seriously threaten Wahdan, whose decisive finishing burst proved far too strong.
Tiswahum storms home to score at first attempt
Tiswahum (Dahess x Fortuna Al Maury) made a winning debut in the third race on the card, a 1400m Local Purebred Arabian Maiden for 3yos, a Class 6 contest featuring 10 runners, producing a devastating late turn of foot to score by 1¼ lengths. The grey filly, representing Injaaz Stud, was prepared by Ahmed Al Jehani and given a well-judged ride by Nicolas Baudet.
Breaking smartly from stall 1, Tiswahum was settled comfortably in third by Baudet, tracking the pace-setting Amrood Al Shahania (Assy) and Murabet Al Meydan (Sand Victor). The leading pair established a slight advantage over the rest of the field through the early and middle stages, with Murabet Al Meydan briefly challenging Amrood Al Shahania for the lead before the latter regained a clear advantage. Tiswahum, meanwhile, continued to travel comfortably just behind them, waiting for an opportunity to make her move. Approaching the home turn, Baghia Al Shahania (Assy), who had raced in fourth for much of the contest, improved smoothly into second. Turning for home, Amrood Al Shahania still held the lead, with Baghia Al Shahania closing in and seemingly poised to mount a serious challenge. However, just as the pair appeared set to fight out the finish, Tiswahum unleashed a breathtaking burst of speed through the middle of the track. Joining the leaders inside the final 200m, she swept past them in a matter of strides and powered clear to seal an impressive first-time success.

Amrood Al Shahania, carrying the colours of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al-Thani, kept on gamely to finish second under Lukas Delozier for trainer Rudy Nerbonne. Baghia Al Shahania, who had briefly threatened the leader entering the home straight, could not match the finishing speed of the first two, but held third, a further 6 lengths back, for owner Al Wakra Racing, trainer Khalid Abdulaziz Al-Kuwari and jockey Faleh Bughenaim.
Grendel Al Shahania edges thrilling debut victory
Grendel Al Shahania (TM Fred Texas x Zahwah) made a winning debut in Race 2, the 1400m Purebred Arabian Maiden for 3yos, a Class 6 contest featuring 8 runners, prevailing by a short head in a thrilling finish. The grey filly, sporting the silks of Al Shahania Stud, was saddled by Rudy Nerbonne and partnered by Lukas Delozier, leading home a remarkable one-two for her owner and trainer.
Breaking from stall 6, Grendel Al Shahania was soon prominent before settling into second behind the pace-setting Tufan Al Jazeera (Mister Ginoux), with stablemate Diva Al Shahania (Mister Ginoux) tracking the pair in third. The order remained unchanged through the early and middle stages as the 8 runners raced in a long line, separated by relatively small margins and with several still holding chances of making an impact. Turning for home, Delozier asked Grendel Al Shahania to quicken and the filly responded immediately, sweeping past the long-time leader to take command. Diva Al Shahania also responded generously when Alberto Sanna called for her effort, joining her stablemate inside the final 300m. The pair soon drew clear of their rivals and became locked in a fierce head-to-head battle, matching strides all the way to the line. Grendel Al Shahania showed tremendous determination to preserve the narrow advantage, denying her equally courageous stablemate by a short head.

Diva Al Shahania completed an impressive one-two for Al Shahania Stud and trainer Rudy Nerbonne, finishing second under Alberto Sanna on her own racecourse debut. Tufan Al Jazeera, also a debutant, who had dictated the pace for much of the contest, stayed on for third, a further 6½ lengths behind, carrying the colours of Al Fakhama Racing for trainer Khalifa Al-Buainain and jockey Arnaud De Lepine. All 3 placed runners were fillies.
Son Of Sarabi makes all to break maiden 17th attempt
Son Of Sarabi (Cable Bay x Sarabi Mshairi) made a winning seasonal reappearance with a pillar-to-post victory in the day’s opener, a 1400m Thoroughbred Maiden for 3yos, a Class 6 contest featuring 14 runners, holding on by ½ length to open his account at the 17th attempt. The bay gelding, carrying the colours of Al Zaeem Stud, was saddled by Mohammed Balasim Al Jumaili and partnered by Muanis Al Siyabi.
Breaking sharply from stall 1, Son Of Sarabi immediately seized the initiative and established a lead he would never relinquish. Wollemi (Wootton Bassett) tracked him closely throughout, with the pair setting the pace while the positions behind them changed hands. Zoier (Bungle Inthejungle), Not Now Ever (No Nay Never) and Leonetto (Frankel) were among those contesting third in the early and middle stages, with Leonetto holding that position approaching the home turn. Swansea (Romanised), one of only 3 fillies in the field, travelled in midfield but remained within striking distance of the leading group. Turning for home, Son Of Sarabi continued to dictate matters, with Wollemi firmly on his heels. Swansea quickened smartly in the home straight to move into third, but the leading pair had drawn clear and were locked in their own battle. Passing the 300m mark, Wollemi began to close significantly on the long-time leader, threatening to overhaul him in the closing stages. Son Of Sarabi, however, responded with renewed determination and, despite his advantage narrowing, dug deep to maintain his lead all the way to the line.
Wollemi, representing Al Emadi Racing, finished a close second under Alberto Sanna for trainer Khalid Abdulaziz Al-Kuwari. Swansea stayed on to secure third, another 1½ lengths behind, for owner Khalid Rashid Al-Mohannadi, trainer Rashid Al Jehani and jockey Jefferson Smith.
