Wathnan Team Riders Ready for the Nations Cup Opener in Šamorín

The Qatari Wathnan Show Jumping Team has completed its preparations for its first European competition of the season, which marks the opening round of the Nations Cup series. The event is being hosted in the Šamorín, Slovakia, from July 8–12, 2026. The event will feature strong international participation and a total prize fund exceeding €220,000.

Among the highlights is the three-star Nations Cup, offering €90,000 in prize money. The championship also includes the Šamorín Grand Prix, another three-star competition with €60,000 in prize money, as well as the Golden Tour, also rated three stars, with a prize fund of €30,000. These three classes are considered the premier events of the four-day competition, which takes place in the picturesque city of Šamorín.

The opening day of the championship, Wednesday, July 8, will be dedicated to veterinary inspections and final preparations for the horses and riders participating in the event. The first jumping competitions will begin on July 9, featuring a variety of classes, including small, medium, large, and Golden Tour competitions, open to riders across different categories and experience levels.

The Wathnan Show Jumping Team recently completed its final preparations by competing in several events, most notably the Westwezel Championship, where the team’s riders delivered strong performances. Wathnan rider Juan Carlos concluded the competition with impressive results, including a sixth-place finish in the Grand Prix.

The Wathnan Show Jumping Team consists of the riders Faleh bin Suwaid Al-Ajmi, Mohammed Saeed Haidan, Bassem Hassan Mohammed, Khalid Al-Emadi, Salman Al-Emadi, and Juan Carlos, with Mubarak bin Yousef Al-Rumaihi serving as the team manager
