The international presence added further significance to the race, with Molfit representing Wathnan Racing under Qatari jockey Faleh Nasser Bughenaim.

The six-year-old Molfit, by champion Al Mourtajez out of Djizabelle des Forges, races in the colours of Wathnan Racing and is trained in France by François Rohaut.

He has competed in a number of high-level Purebred Arabian races across Europe and the Middle East, recording two victories as well as several prominent finishes in Pattern races.

Among his notable results was a runner-up finish in the 2024 Abu Dhabi Derby, where he produced a strong performance behind HM Al Shaheen. He has also continued to compete in major races in France, including a fourth-place finish in the Prix Djerba Oua at La Teste-de-Buch last July.

Istanbul Challenge

Molfit entered the Istanbul challenge in Wathnan Racing’s colours against a strong group of leading Turkish horses, offering the Qatari operation another opportunity to add an international achievement in one of the most prominent legs of the UAE President’s Cup Series for Purebred Arabian Horses.

His rivals included Azimli, Kahramanoglu, Zingirkoparan, Aslan Hatip, Gozpinari, Kral Sultan and Oztatmar.

The Turkish leg holds major significance within the international programme of the UAE President’s Cup, which continues to visit leading racecourses around the world with the aim of supporting Purebred Arabian racing and strengthening its international profile and reach.

The Istanbul Racing Festival at Veliefendi Racecourse also provides an important platform that brings together local and international runners across a programme of major races.
