New Challenge for “Wathnan Quaker” and AbdelSaid at the Aachen World Equestrian Championship

“Wathnan Quaker,” the Wathnan showjumping team’s horse, will compete today in the individual final of the World Showjumping Championship. He faces this new challenge alongside Wathnan rider Abdelkader Said—who is representing Belgium—among the 25 riders competing in the FEI World Championship final in Aachen, Germany.

The individual championship concludes today, following the completion of preparatory procedures, including the veterinary inspection of participating horses yesterday.

The German team secured the gold medal with a score of 4.48 points—accrued across the team competitions (comprising a single-round event followed by a two-round event on Thursday and Friday)—along with a prize of €136,000. The Belgian team took the silver medal with 11.69 penalty points and a prize of €84,000, while the British team claimed the bronze with 12.98 penalty points and a prize of €60,000.

In a related development, the first international competition for the U-17 youth category kicked off yesterday in the main arena. Held under single-round rules with 1.40-meter obstacles, the event saw 39 male and female show-jumpers from around the world compete.
