Wathnan Racing enjoyed an outstanding Saturday on the British racing scene on 19 September 2026, recording an impressive four victories across three racecourses, with a double at Ayr followed by wins at Newmarket and Newbury.
Naval Light Opens the Winning Run at Ayr
Naval Light launched the successful afternoon with an impressive victory in the Class 2 one-mile handicap at Ayr on heavy ground.
The three-year-old raced towards the rear before making strong progress in the closing stages. He finished powerfully to take the lead inside the final 110 yards and defeated Hawksbill by one and a quarter lengths.
Naval Light was ridden by Sam James and trained by Karl Burke, giving Wathnan Racing the perfect start to the afternoon.
Fast Tracker Lands Listed Doonside Cup
Wathnan Racing quickly completed an Ayr double as Fast Tracker produced a strong performance to capture the Listed Doonside Cup Stakes over one mile and two furlongs on heavy ground.
The five-year-old was held up towards the rear before making progress on the outside more than two furlongs from home. He took the lead over a furlong out and stayed on strongly to defeat Ice Max by two and a quarter lengths.
Ridden by James Doyle and trained by Ed Walker, Fast Tracker returned to winning ways at Listed level in impressive fashion.
Old Is Gold Dominates at Newmarket
The winning momentum continued at Newmarket as Old Is Gold produced a dominant display in the Class 4 Turners Parks Group Ltd Handicap (Div II) over six furlongs.
The three-year-old powered clear to defeat Sierra Sands by four lengths, recording a winning time of 1 minute 9.50 seconds on good ground.
Ridden by Billy Loughnane for trainer Andrew Balding, Old Is Gold provided Wathnan Racing with its third victory of the afternoon.
Garfield Shadow Completes the Four-Timer
Garfield Shadow then completed an excellent four-timer for Wathnan Racing with victory in the Class 3 Conundrum Consulting Handicap over seven furlongs at Newbury.
The five-year-old prevailed in a competitive finish, defeating Aalto by a neck under Callum Rodriguez for Qatari trainer Hamad Al Jehani.
The victory on good-to-firm ground provided the perfect conclusion to an outstanding day for Wathnan Racing in Britain.
With four winners across Ayr, Newmarket and Newbury, Wathnan Racing rounded off an exceptional British Saturday as Naval Light, Fast Tracker, Old Is Gold and Garfield Shadow all found the winner’s enclosure.
