Flora Of Bermuda claims second win in the G3 Summer Stakes

It was two years ago that the flying filly Flora Of Bermuda notched her first Group-race success when winning York’s G3 Summer Stakes and, now five, she returned to the Knavesmire to land the same race for a second time on Friday.
Having started her season in positive fashion when winning Newmarket’s Listed Ellen Chaloner Stakes, her following run in the G1 Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot was marred by a tack malfunction.

“Things didn’t go to plan at Ascot,” said James Doyle, who has ridden Flora Of Bermuda in all her starts this season. “I was behind [eventual winner] Almeraq, but the bit slipped and it became a mess. It’s hard to say what would’ve happened, but she was the high-class filly in the race today.”
Flora Of Bermuda’s York victory over a 13-strong field of smart fillies was the fourth of her career, and she has also twice been placed in Group 1 company, in the Qipco British Champions Sprint, and in last year’s Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes.
