Emirates Arabian Horse Society Crowns Winners of Al Tcholib Competition in Abu Dhabi

The Emirates Arabian Horse Society yesterday concluded the first round of the inaugural edition of the Al Tcholib Competition, held in Boudheib in the Al Khatem area of Abu Dhabi.
The competition was held under the supervision of Sheikh Zayed bin Hamad Al Nahyan, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Emirates Arabian Horse Society. The closing ceremony was attended by Mohammed Ahmed Al Harbi, Director General of the society, who honoured the top three finishers in the men’s and women’s categories, as well as the best team in each category, in recognition of their outstanding traditional performances showcasing their skills in this authentic Emirati art and the harmony and coordination required between rider and horse.
In the riders’ category, Abdullah Saleh Al Junaibi took first place, followed by Majed Abdullah Al Alawi in second and Khalifa Ali Al Deraei in third. In the women riders’ category, Latifa Khaled Al Falasi claimed first place, followed by Wdeima Yahya Al Kathiri in second and Fatima Ayda Al Ameri in third.

In the team competitions, the Boudheib Team won first place in the riders’ category, while the Saraya Al Khail Team took first place in the women riders’ category.
The competition consists of two rounds. Abu Dhabi hosted the first round, while the Al Dhafra region will host the second round on September 27, with cash prizes allocated to the winners at each round.
Through the competition, the society aims to preserve the values of Emirati cultural and traditional heritage among younger generations. Al Tcholib is one of the UAE’s traditional equestrian arts, performed by riders on horseback through improvised poetic verses, individually or collectively, according to specific metres and melodies that harmonize with the movement of the horses. The competition contributes to reviving this heritage and strengthening its presence within the community.

The “Mdmar” website which was Founded by Khaled Makhlouf in 2007 for horse and equestrian races is keen to cover and follow all competitions related to horses, from show jumping, Horseracing, speed and endurance races, and purebred Arabian horse beauty shows, which belong to the Arab Gulf countries at home and abroad in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and the State of Qatar, the State of Kuwait, the Sultanate of Oman, and the Kingdom of Bahrain.
