An extraordinary €1.75 million in prize money has been confirmed for the Longines Global Champions Tour of Cairo, as the world’s best riders and horses prepare for a spectacular new chapter of the 2026 Championship from 22–24 October.
Against the unmistakable backdrop of the Pyramids of Giza, five-star show jumping will arrive in one of the world’s most extraordinary and historic settings for Stage 14 of the season. Bringing together elite sport, ancient heritage and international culture, Cairo will offer a stage unlike any other as the Championship enters its decisive final stretch.

At the centre of the three-day event will be the €1 million Longines Global Champions Tour Grand Prix of Cairo, where some of the biggest names in the sport will battle for a share of the exceptional prize purse – and potentially crucial points in the race to become 2026 LGCT Champion.
Where Sport, Heritage and Culture Meet

The Longines Global Champions Tour has become renowned for taking world-class show jumping to spectacular destinations around the globe, combining the highest level of sport with premium hospitality, iconic settings and an unmistakable sense of occasion. With the Pyramids of Giza forming the backdrop to the arena, the arrival of Global Champions in Egypt will create a meeting point between thousands of years of history and the very best of modern equestrian sport. It is a setting that further strengthens a calendar already defined by some of the world’s most remarkable destinations, while giving riders, fans and guests the opportunity to experience Egyptian culture alongside three days of five-star action.

The event also marks an important expansion of the Tour’s partnership with Qatar’s Years of Culture initiative, bringing the excitement of international equestrian sport together with cultural exchange.

As a founding partner of the Tour’s Cairo leg, Years of Culture is helping to establish one of the most anticipated new destinations on the Global Champions calendar. The collaboration celebrates Egypt’s extraordinary cultural legacy while bringing riders and audiences together through a shared passion for equestrian sport.
Cairo also looks ahead to Egypt’s participation as a partner country in the Qatar, Egypt and Greece 2027 Year of Culture, offering an early opportunity to celebrate the relationship between Qatar and Egypt and build excitement for a year of creative collaboration and discovery.

Years of Culture draws on art, heritage, sport and innovation to connect Qatar with communities around the world. In Cairo, that mission will come alive through the energy of the crowd, the skill of the riders and horses, and an event staged in a location recognised across the globe.

Alongside the event, the Egyptian authorities are reinforcing their commitment to equine health and welfare through a comprehensive initiative focused on horses working within the Pyramids Plateau area. Led by the Egyptian Equestrian Federation in cooperation with the General Organization for Veterinary Services (GOVS), Giza Governorate, Orascom Pyramids and Brooke, the initiative will support enhanced veterinary care, equine health and working conditions across this iconic location.
Championship Pressure Reaches Boiling Point
And while the setting promises to be unforgettable, the sporting stakes could hardly be higher.
With just Cairo and the Finals in Rabat remaining before the 2026 Longines Global Champions Tour Champion is crowned, every point now carries enormous weight. After a season fought across continents, the margins at the top of the standings are tightening and Cairo has the potential to transform the Championship picture before the final showdown.

Abdel Saïd, Edwina Tops-Alexander and Christian Ahlmann are among the leading names firmly in the Championship battle, with pressure building as the contenders run out of opportunities to strengthen their scores. A clear round, a single rail or even qualification for the Grand Prix could now have major consequences for the title race.
With €1 million on offer in the Longines Global Champions Tour Grand Prix of Cairo, there will be no room to hide as the sport’s leading combinations take on a pivotal test beneath the Egyptian skyline.

There will also be a powerful home-nation story to follow. A host of Egyptian riders have competed across the LGCT and GCL throughout 2026, including Nayel Nassar and Sameh El Dahan, adding another layer of anticipation as Global Champions arrives on Egyptian soil.

Nayel Nassar spoke about the brand new LGCT saying: “How exciting, I never expected a 5* to ever come to Cairo, let alone a GCT event. It really says a lot about the direction the sport is heading in Egypt, and the effort our Federation is putting in to supporting the growth of show jumping within the country. The site of the ancient Pyramids marks another unique venue on the LGCT circuit and we hope our fans will come out to support our GCL team Cairo Pharaohs in our home city. The setting will be spectacular, the schedule is fantastic with great classes and prize money and the vibes should be impeccable with so much buzz around the community for this event, I can’t wait to be there!”

Experience Cairo

For fans wanting to be part of the landmark event, travel packages combining flights, hotel accommodation and event tickets are available, alongside experiences designed to give guests the opportunity to discover more of Cairo and its extraordinary cultural heritage during their stay.

It creates the chance to experience far more than three days of world-class show jumping: a journey combining elite sport with one of the world’s great bucket-list destinations. From the sporting drama of a Championship reaching its climax to the sight of the world’s best horses competing against the backdrop of the Pyramids, the Longines Global Champions Tour of Cairo founded by Qatar’s Years Of Culture is set to deliver something entirely new.
From 22–24 October, all eyes turn to Egypt. €1.75 million is on the line, €1 million awaits in the Grand Prix, Championship pressure is mounting – and history is ready to provide the backdrop.
