Doncaster Double for Wathnan Racing as Final Objective and Silver Lake Shine

Wathnan Racing enjoyed another outstanding day in Britain on Friday, September 11, recording a superb double at Doncaster during the St Leger Festival through Final Objective and Silver Lake.

First Group Success for Final Objective

The first victory came courtesy of Final Objective, trained by Hamad Al Jehani and ridden by James Doyle, who landed the G2 Flying Childers Stakes for two-year-olds over five furlongs.

Doyle kept Final Objective within striking distance before asking him for his challenge in the closing stages.

The Wathnan Racing runner finished powerfully, getting on top in the final strides to defeat Crownbreaker by a neck, with Flann Sunna a further half-length away in third.

The winning time was 58.33 seconds.

It marked Final Objective’s first success at Group level and confirmed the progress of the son of Sioux Nation.

He had already demonstrated his ability at York on his previous start when finishing runner-up in the G2 Gimcrack Stakes, and he took another significant step forward at Doncaster.

Four in a Row for Silver Lake

Wathnan Racing completed the double when the progressive Silver Lake, trained by William Haggas and also partnered by James Doyle, produced an impressive performance in the British Stallion Studs EBF Premier Fillies’ Handicap over almost a mile and a half.

The three-year-old grey filly travelled strongly before taking command in the closing stages and stretching clear of her rivals.

Silver Lake crossed the line 2¾ lengths ahead of Thatwilldoso, with Room Fourteen finishing third.

The victory continued a remarkable sequence for the progressive filly and represented her fourth consecutive handicap success.

Her winning run began at Salisbury, followed by further victories at Goodwood and during York’s Ebor Festival, before another commanding success at Doncaster.

A Memorable Day for Wathnan and James Doyle

The Doncaster double was also a memorable afternoon for James Doyle, who partnered both Wathnan Racing winners.

For trainer Hamad Al Jehani, Final Objective’s Group 2 triumph provided another important success on the international stage, while Silver Lake’s continued progression added further strength to Wathnan Racing’s impressive British campaign.

Two winners, a first Group triumph for Final Objective and a fourth straight victory for Silver Lake made it another standout day for Wathnan Racing.
