Christian Kukuk did it again. Twelve months after taking the crown in the British capital, the German stars delivered a sensational back-to-back victory in the €1 million Longines Global Champions Tour Grand Prix of London, beating home hero Scott Brash by just 0.18 seconds in a breathtaking finish at Royal Hospital Chelsea.
In front of a sold-out London crowd, the atmosphere reached fever pitch as 14 combinations went head-to-head in a world-class jump-off for one of the richest prizes of the season. With the historic façade of Royal Hospital Chelsea providing an unmistakable backdrop, packed grandstands, buzzing hospitality, a vibrant Lifestyle Village and three days of entertainment created an electric setting for the tenth stage of the 2026 Championship.

But when it came down to the final fractions of a second, Kukuk and Checker 47 were untouchable. The defending London champions stopped the clock in 42.14 seconds, denying the British crowd a home victory after Brash and Hello Folie had looked almost certain to have done enough. Fellow Brit Harry Charles completed an exceptional afternoon for the home riders, guiding Balypatric Tiberius to a double clear in 43.29 seconds for third.
With two British riders on the podium and barely a second separating the top three, London once again delivered sport at the very highest level.

After sealing a sensational second consecutive victory in London, an emotional Kukuk paid tribute to Checker 47 and the extraordinary partnership that once again delivered when the pressure was at its highest. He said: “I’m so, so, so happy. I won it last year and it’s always a special thing if you win back-to-back. Honestly, it was a bit of the same situation as last year. I saw Scott and I knew again: I have to go. These are the moments where this horse is just outstanding and special, because he can kind of smell it and feel it, and then he just does things that are outstanding. I think the way that I rode to the last was unreal, that he was still able to jump it. That’s why he’s one of the best horses in the world. To be back at this incredible venue, to take the win here the history the crowd it really couldn’t get better.”
The victory carried even greater significance for Kukuk, securing his place in the Longines Global Champions Tour Super Grand Prix at the GC Prague Playoffs. Reflecting on earning the coveted golden ticket, he added: “We finished third in Riesnebeck and I was already looking to Victor up there, and I thought it would be nice to have that ticket again this year. We have that in the pocket now, which on top of the win here today is a very, very nice thing.”

Reflecting on just how close the battle had been, Brash was full of praise for Hello Folie and the way she responded when he asked her to attack the jump-off. He said: “I’m absolutely delighted with her. She was absolutely exceptional today and, yeah, there’s nothing in it. We were beaten by a very experienced combination, so I can’t complain. Of course, it would be amazing to have a win here, but I’m delighted with the horse. She’s wonderful. She loves going against the clock, so you just have to ask her what to do and she says yes. She’s got her eyes on the fences for you and, yeah, she’s a joy to ride in a jump-off.”
The British star also paid tribute to the electric home support, with the sold-out crowd roaring him and fellow Brit Harry Charles around the arena. Brash added: “I love, love, love when they get behind us. You just always want to deliver for them. Not quite today, but we’ve given them something to cheer about, and Harry was also fantastic. It was a good day, a good weekend.”

And with an exceptional 14 combinations progressing to the jump-off, Brash highlighted the extraordinary strength of the field in London, joking: “Maybe you could say too many! It was still a big course. It just shows the standard here.”
Making his first five-star Grand Prix and jump-off appearance with Balypatric Tiberius, Harry Charles was delighted with the young horse’s performance on one of the biggest stages of the season. He said: “Pretty amazing. It was a great effort from the whole team. In our first five-star Grand Prix and jump-off, it’s not really the preferred place to do it, but I think that makes it even more impressive.”
I didn’t have the best draw, so we kind of had to go from the start. Sandra, who was in front at the time, was already really quick, and I just kind of let it off. Not every day you’re going to jump for one million quid!”
With Stage 10 complete, the race for the 2026 Longines Global Champions Tour Championship continues to tighten.

The first round delivered drama from beginning to end as the world’s best took on a towering 1.60m track, with 14 combinations emerging clear to set up an extraordinary jump-off. There was heartbreak for Belgium’s Pieter Devos and Primo DV, whose unexpected dismount ended their challenge, while Britain’s Ben Maher and Point Break were left counting the cost of a single rail. Maher knows better than most what victory in London feels like, having won the inaugural Longines Global Champions Tour Grand Prix of London back in 2013.
Fresh from his Longines Global Champions Tour Grand Prix victory in Riesenbeck, Victor Bettendorf and OwandO van de Rispen attacked the course to produce the fastest four-fault round of the first round in 72.77 seconds, narrowly missing a place in the decider.
Then it was time for the jump-off. Fourteen riders. €1 million on the line. And no room for hesitation.
First into the pressure cooker were Belgium’s Niels Bruynseels and Chacco’s Lando OL. Back on the London stage after finishing on the podium here last year, Bruynseels set off with intent, but the second fence came crashing down. He recovered superbly to finish on 4 faults in 46.92 seconds, setting the first target but leaving the door wide open.

Austria’s Maximilian Weishaupt and Zuccero HV were next to answer the challenge – and delivered the first double clear. Smooth, fast and faultless, they crossed the line in 43.75 seconds. Suddenly there was a serious time on the board, and the pressure shifted firmly onto everyone still to come.
Up next Sandra Auffarth and Quirici H wasted no time raising the stakes. Auffarth attacked, found every stride and flew through the finish clear in 43.47 seconds. A new leader.
Then came a roar from the London crowd. Grand Prix winner here two years ago, Great Britain’s Harry Charles entered aboard the relatively inexperienced Balypatric Tiberius, tackling his first CSI5* Grand Prix. Charles threw everything at it. Brave, fast and clear, they stopped the clock at 43.29 seconds and shot into the lead. Could London be heading for another home victory?
Belgium’s Gudrun Patteet and Sea Coast Qarvaljo d’Or chose a different strategy. Keeping the rails intact, Patteet delivered another valuable double clear in 46.88 seconds, slotting safely onto the leaderboard but leaving Charles out in front. The dynamic duo returned as Henrik von Eckermann and the incomparable King Edward gave it everything. But on this occasion the risks didn’t pay off, with two fences falling to leave the pair on 8 faults in 49.14 seconds.
Denis Lynch and Cordial have become familiar faces in jump-offs this season, and once again they were right in the thick of the action. But one fence down ended their podium hopes, finishing on 4 faults in 46.28 seconds.
Then came Scott Brash.

The British star and Hello Folie produced an absolute masterclass. Brash hit the accelerator and never looked back, slicing almost a full second from Charles’ leading time as the sold-out grandstands erupted. Clear in 42.32 seconds. Britain was one-two. Brash was in command. Could anybody possibly catch him?
Brazil’s Eduardo Pereira de Menezes and H5 Londontime were next to try. A fence down left them on 4 faults in 44.26 seconds, and even without the rail, the clock showed just how formidable Brash’s target had become.
Now came the defending champion.
Germany’s Christian Kukuk and Checker 47 had won this very Grand Prix 12 months earlier, and they came into the arena knowing exactly what was required. Kukuk attacked. Every turn was tight, every stride calculated, and as Checker 47 cleared the final fence the clock stopped at 42.14 seconds. 0.18 seconds faster than Brash.

The lead had changed again. Kukuk was suddenly on the brink of an extraordinary back-to-back London double – but four world-class combinations were still standing between him and history.
Multiple LGCT Champion Edwina Tops-Alexander and Caetlin vd Heffinck Z kept every fence standing and chased the German pair all the way home. Their beautiful double clear stopped the clock in 43.95 seconds. Another faultless round, but not quite enough.
Italy’s Emanuele Gaudiano and Chalou’s Love PS went hunting for the time, but a fence midway through the round ended their challenge. They finished with 4 faults in 46.06 seconds, leaving Kukuk’s lead intact. Dutch star Maikel van der Vleuten, already a multiple Longines Global Champions Tour Grand Prix winner, was next aboard Beauville Z N.O.P. Another clear piled on the pressure, but 45.31 seconds wasn’t enough to threaten the top of the leaderboard.
One rider remained.

Germany’s Christian Ahlmann and Untouched LB entered the arena with Kukuk watching and London holding its breath. Ahlmann had the experience and the horsepower to change everything. He kept every pole in place, but as he crossed the finish in 43.81 seconds, the result was finally confirmed. Christian Kukuk had done it again.
Back-to-back victories. The €1 million Grand Prix. And a winning margin of just 0.18 seconds.
