Stars of show jumping to descend on Longines Global Champions Tour of Valkenswaard


Just three LGCT evens left to secure crucial 2024 championship points…

The world’s top show jumping talent are set to descend on Valkenswaard for the Longines Global Champions Tour of Valkenswaard this weekend from 23 – 25 August. The stars of the sport will take to the stunning grass arena at the Longines Tops International Arena for the thirteenth stop on this year’s tour to battle it out for top honors at the birthplace of the LGCT and GCL.  


Top Dutch talent will be out in full force with stars like individual bronze medalist Maikel van der Vleuten, Jur Vrieling, reigning Longines Global Champions Tour champion Harrie Smolders, Marc Houtzager, and last year’s LGCT Grand Prix of Valkenswaard winner Sanne Thijssen. Belgium’s top talent such as Jérôme Guéry, Mexico’s LGCT Grand Prix winner Nicola Philippaerts, Gregory Wathelet and fresh off the back of a podium in London Pieter Devos are all heading across the border to Valkenswaard.

Still fresh off their team triumphs in Paris, Great Britain team gold medalist Scott Brash, silver team medalist from the USA Laura Kraut, and the riders that secured team bronze on home turf Simon Delestre and Kevin Staut, are all in The Netherlands this weekend aiming to continue their flying form.

But they will have fierce competition as current LGCT Championship leader Max Kühner of Austria is a force to be reckoned with in his current form. With out 3 events left this season, he will be bringing out the big guns to try to extend his Championship lead.

Joining them will be a host of international talent, including world number one Henrik von Eckermann from Sweden, USA’s Jessica Springsteen, Australia’s Edwina Tops-Alexander, Italy’s Lorenzo de Luca and Germany’s Marcus Ehning, Philipp Weishaupt and Richard Vogel.
