Speak in Colours wins Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club Phoenix Sprint Stakes

Speak In Colours (Excelebration) was a master in his own garden. The three-year-old colt, trained in Ireland by Joseph-Patrick O’Brien, won the fourth renewal of the Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club Phoenix Sprint Stakes (Gr3), on Sunday at the Curragh. The six-furlong event has been sponsored by the Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club (QREC) since 2015. After waiting close to the leaders, the grey colt attacked four hundred meters from the post. He took the advantage two hundred meters later to win well. Owned by Mrs. Regalado-Gonzalez, Speak in Colours signed his first Group success after failing in the Commonwealth Cup (Gr1) at Royal Ascot.

Joseph-Patrick O’Brien told the local journalists: “He had done several good performances earlier this year, but he disappointed us a little at Royal Ascot. It is great seeing him back at his best level. His jockey told me he may have come a bit too early in front. Despite that, he won well. Haydock with the Sprint Cup (GR1) could be an option.”
Speak in Colours won by a length and a quarter in front of the courageous Gordon Lord Byron (Byron). Spirit of Valor (War Front) finished third. Hesham Mohammed Al Ali, Director of Office of QREC General Manager has, was present and presented the trophies to the winners
