QREC to host 2 horse shows this month

Qatar National Arabian and Al Rayyan National Peninsula Horse Shows set to begin

A combined line-up of 500 Horses to compete at indoors at QEF

As part of its ongoing series of horse shows, the Qatar Racing & Equestrian Club (QREC), chaired by Mr Hamad bin Abdulrahman Al Attiyah, will stage two major events this month. The 28th Qatar National Arabian Horse Show will take place from 20 to 23 November, followed by the 2nd Al Rayyan National Peninsula Horse Show from 24 to 26 November. Both shows will be held in the indoor arena of the Qatar Equestrian Federation.

These events form a central part of QREC’s seasonal calendar dedicated to Purebred Arabian and Peninsula horses. They reflect the strong and growing interest in these shows, as well as Qatar’s established leadership in the field, both in terms of organisation and in securing titles at international and global levels.

28th Qatar National Arabian Horse Show

The 28th Qatar National Arabian Horse Show, beginning on Thursday, 20 November, has attracted 326 Purebred Arabian horses across all age groups, including yearlings. Notable participating studs include Al Sraiya Stud, Al Khor Stud, Al Jaham Stud, Al Hazm Stud, Al Yacoub Stud, Umm Aludham Stud, Sheikh Hamad bin Ali Al Thani (Al Athba Stud), Sheikh Nawaf bin Nasser Al Thani (Al Nasser Stud) and Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Saud Al Thani.

QREC has allocated prize money for the top three in each class: QAR 45,000 for first place, QAR 35,000 for second and QAR 25,000 for third.

2nd Al Rayyan National Peninsula Horse Show

The 2nd Al Rayyan National Peninsula Horse Show, dedicated exclusively to purebred Arabian Peninsula horses, will follow from 24 to 26 November at the Qatar Equestrian Federation’s indoor arena. A total of 174 horses will take part, representing leading studs, including Sheikh Thamer bin Mishaal Al Thani’s Stud, Doha Stud, Al Jazeel Stud, Hleetan Stud, Al Hamama Stud, Al Jood Stud, Sheikh Tamim bin Issa Al Thani’s Stud and Al shabaniyah Stud.

QREC has also allocated prize money for the first three placed horses in each class: QAR 12,000 for first place, QAR 10,000 for second and QAR 8,000 for third.
