As part of QREC’s strategy to enhance Qatar’s presence at the world’s top racing events, the Qatar Prix Jean Prat was held under Qatari sponsorship on Sunday, 8 July. Qatar and QREC were associated with the full eight-race day, which was run, for the first time, at Deauville. The feature event of the day, the Qatar Prix Jean Prat, was reserved for three-year-old horses and was run over a 1,600-metre straight-line course, which adds to the value of the race. QREC General Manager, Nasser bin Sherida Al Kaabi, was present at the meeting, and he presented the trophies to the winners.
INTELLOGENT found his mark in the main race of the day by winning the Qatar Prix Jean Prat. Winner of the Prix de Guiche, then fourth in the QIPCO Prix du Jockey Club, Intellogent won the Qatar Prix Jean Prat, realising the first Gr1 of his career. The colt had a perfect run, with plenty of cover, and maintained his acceleration to hold off a strong finish from Cascadian. The Irish raider Gustav Klimt was third.
“The horse has never run badly,” commented Fabrice Chappet, Intellogent’s trainer, “although he found the Jockey Club trip a bit long. The decision to shorten him up wasn’t a difficult one.
“We have a dream run,” added Pierre-Charles Boudot, Intellogent’s jockey, “in a race with lots of pace, where he could really use his stamina. He came up in progression, and held on well to the line, which he didn’t do last time, as the trip was too long for him.”
