The Qatar Racing Limited-owned filly SWOON(Frankel x Marine Bleue) proved much too good for her rivals when taking the Download The Free At The Races App Novice Stakes at Wolverhampton on Friday 30th July.
Having only her second start, the three-year-old filly improved on her debut sixth place at Chelmsford three weeks ago to score comfortably for trainer Sir Michael Stoute and jockey Richard Kingscote.
Drawn wide, Kingscote quickly bustled the filly into a prominent position on leaving the stalls, slotting in behind early leader and race favourite Night Hunter(Tapit). With only a steady pace being set, Swoon always travelled with plenty of zest in the hands of Kingscote and kept close tabs on Night Hunter throughout the 2,400m contest. On leaving the back straight, the two leaders quickly upped the pace and started the sprint for home. Just outside the furlong pole, it was clear that Swoon had the measure of Night Hunter and she was kicked clear by Kingscote to secure a comfortable two and a quarter length success at the line. Little else got into the race, although the outsider of the field Hackberry(Nathaniel) got the better of Down Every Road(Galileo) in the duel for third, some four lengths behind the winner.
Bred by Qatar Bloodstock Limited, Swoon is by the mighty Frankel, who stands at Banstead Manor Stud in Newmarket and is out of Marine Bleue(Desert Prince), who was trained in Chantilly by Nicolas Clement. A Listed and a Group Three winner(both over a mile) Marine Bleue has produced nine individual winners, including Group Two winner Military Law(Dubawi), Marina Piccola(Haling) a Listed winner and dam of Group One winner French King(French Fifteen), the Group Three placed Wednaan(Dubawi) and also, Marine One(Frankel) a Listed winner over hurdles.
