The Al Beshariyah Cup meeting unfolded under the lights at Al Rayyan Racecourse on the dirt track, featuring seven competitive races that showcased both emerging and seasoned Purebred Arabian and Thoroughbred contenders. The evening offered a lively mix of decisive performances and thrilling late duels, with several winners displaying impressive early-season form. The highlight came in the feature Al Beshariyah Cup, where Mohtaram (Azadi x Tameemah) produced a sparkling Qatar debut, storming home with authority to cap a memorable night of racing. Rashid Saed Adiba, Head of QREC Racing Operations Section, crowned the winners of the feature race of the day.

Mohtaram made a sparkling Qatar debut, breaking his maiden in commanding fashion with a standout performance in the day’s feature, the Al Beshariyah Cup, a Purebred Arabian Premium Maiden Plate for 4–7YOs over 1900m that drew 14 runners. The 4YO grey colt, starting from the widest draw, was confidently handled by Marco Casamento to score by 4½ lengths for Al Ghazali Stud and trainer Mohammed Al Ghazali, completing a double on the day for the in-form jockey.

Settled in mid-division through the early stages, Mohtaram bided his time as Radad (Gazwan) took the early lead before Lattam (No Risk Al Maury) assumed command through the middle part of the race. Turning for home, Mohtaram began to move through the field smoothly and once in the straight, he unleashed a powerful turn of foot to take control and surge clear for an emphatic victory. AJS Al Ruwais (AF AlBahar), owned and trained by Abdulrahman Mohammed Abdulwahed under Szczepan Mazur, finished second, while Motaghatres (AF AlBahar), trained by Julian Smart for Khalifa bin Sheail Al Kuwari and ridden by Alberto Sanna, came from off the pace to take third, 2¾ lengths behind

Achmed (Tabarak x Al Hanoof) made a strong start to his new campaign with an emphatic win in the opening race of the day, the Local Purebred Arabian Maiden Plate, Class 6, for 4–7YOs over 1700m, contested by 14 runners. The 5YO grey horse, who had ended his previous season with three consecutive runner-up finishes, was rewarded for his consistency with a commanding performance on seasonal debut, scoring by 5¾ lengths for Wathnan Racing, trainer Alban de Mieulle and jockey Abdulla Rashid Al-Hajri.

Initially settled at the rear of the large field, Achmed bided his time as Al Masdar (No Risk Al Maury) and Shamshon ANR (Arkan Al Naif) vied for the early lead, with Molheb Al Meqdam (Dahash) tracking closely behind. At the 800m mark, Al-Hajri began to urge Achmed forward, and the response was immediate, as he surged through the pack to reach mid-division and then accelerated sharply around the home bend to chase the leaders. In the straight, Molheb Al Meqdam looked the likely winner as he began to stretch clear, but Achmed unleashed a devastating late run, sweeping past his rivals to take command and go further ahead with every stride, winning impressively. Molheb Al Meqdam, owned and ridden by Mohammed Hassan Ali Abdulmalik for trainer Ahmed Kobeissi, finished second, while Chakib (Kalino), representing Fahad Salem Al-Hajri and trained by Mohammed Hassan Al Matwi, ran on well for third under Salman Fahad Al-Hajri after a solid effort from mid-division.

Al Shareeah (Zelzal x Harba) turned in a commanding performance to take the second race of the day, the Local Thoroughbred Maiden Plate, Class 6, for 3–7YOs over 1200m, which drew 13 runners. The 4YO bay filly, breaking widest from barrier 13, opened her account on her fifth career start after ending last season on a promising note with a runner-up finish. Owned and trained by Ibrahim Khaled Elahmed, she stormed home under Alberto Sanna to score by an impressive 7½ lengths.

Tracking the early leaders closely, Al Shareeah raced in third as Barqeyya (Vedevani) set the pace, chased by Al Shareeah’s stablemate and half-brother Gasham (Zelzal). The order of the leading trio remained unchanged until the final bend, where Al Shareeah quickened smartly to take command. In the home straight, the pair representing the same connections fought briefly for the lead before Al Shareeah unleashed a dazzling turn of foot to draw clear and win with authority. Lahab (Cloth Of Stars), trained by Gassim Al Ghazali for owner Ali Salem Al-Marri and ridden by Marco Casamento, produced a strong late run to take second by half a length from Gasham, giving Ibrahim Khaled Elahmed a memorable first and third finish.

Midnight City (Acclamation x Dance Club) opened his account with a gutsy victory in the third race of the day, the Thoroughbred Handicap (45–65), Class 6, for 3YO+ over 1200m, which drew 13 runners. In sharp contrast to the first two races, this contest produced a thrilling finish decided only in the final strides and by photo finish. The 3YO bay gelding, representing Mohammad Ibrahim Alfadala and trained by Hamad Al-Jehani, prevailed by a short head under Szczepan Mazur, breaking his maiden at the first time of asking this season.
Breaking well from the gates, Midnight City was settled in mid-division, not far off the leaders. Noo Point (Blue Point) was the early pacesetter before Bunglejungleparty (Bungle Inthejungle) took over and dictated proceedings through the middle stages, maintaining the advantage deep into the home straight and looking the likely winner. However, Midnight City began to quicken around the home bend and entered the straight in second, steadily reducing the deficit with every stride. In a gripping finale, he got up in the final moments to snatch victory on the line. Bunglejungleparty, racing for Injaaz Stud and trained by Julian Smart under Alberto Sanna, finished a gallant second, while Dance Acclaim (Acclamation), trained by Mohammed Al Ghazali for Abdulaziz Saleh Al-Otaibi and ridden by Saleh Faraj Al-Otaibi, stayed on well to take third, 3¾ lengths behind the leading pair.

Aaneef Zakhir (Djendel x Gharnata) continued his good progress this season with a strong performance to take the fourth race of the day, the Local Purebred Arabian Handicap (55–75), a Class 5 contest for 3YO+ over 1700m, which attracted 11 runners. The 5YO bay horse, breaking from barrier 7, built on his fifth-place finish earlier this month to land his second start of the season in fine style. Carrying the silks of his owner and trainer Osama Omer Al-Dafea, Aaneef Zakhir was confidently ridden by Marco Casamento to win by 2½ lengths.
Breaking alertly, Aaneef Zakhir initially contested the lead before being eased back by Casamento to settle behind the pace. Alouqa (Nashmi) soon took command, pressed closely by Hardan (Assy) and then Muale’m (Mared Al Sahra). Passing the 800m mark, Muale’m assumed the lead before being headed by Hardan early in the home straight. Meanwhile, Aaneef Zakhir began to improve steadily, moving into third and then second, showing a sharp turn of foot to take over in the final strides. Despite strong pressure from Dukhan Alseej (Gazwan), Hardan, and Dhi Qar Zakhir (Jenjal) behind, the son of Djendel found more in the closing stages to draw clear for a comfortable win. Dukhan Alseej, owned by Ali Hamad Al-Atteya and trained by Jassim Hamad Al-Atteya under Saleh Faraj Al-Otaibi, finished second, while Dhi Qar Zakhir, trained by Gassim Al Ghazali for Ali Salem Al-Marri and ridden by Saleh Salem Al-Marri, claimed third as he finished a further length behind.

Jaazmina Du Soleil (Gazwan x Jaafika Du Soleil) began her 2025/26 campaign in winning fashion, capturing the fifth race of the day, the Purebred Arabian Handicap (0–75) for 3YO+ over 1200m, a Class 5 contest reserved for Qatari riders. The 4YO grey filly, breaking from barrier 4, backed up her consistent form from last seaso, where she ended with a win and a third-place finis, with another convincing success. Representing Sharq Stud, she gave trainer Mohd Ahmed Mohd Hasan Al-Sulaiti and jockey Hamad Meshlesh Al-Khayarin a comfortable 3-length victory.
Initially settled towards the rear, Jaazmina Du Soleil allowed the early leaders to set the pace, with Jalila Alghania (Al Mamun Monlau) taking command from the start. Around the second bend, Azzam FBR (AF AlBahar) moved up to lead, while Kanz Al Adeed (AF AlBahar) improved into second. As the race unfolded, Jaazmina Du Soleil began to make smooth headway from behind, moving into fourth before accelerating powerfully to challenge the leaders. She soon swept past to take control and drew clear in the closing stages, winning comfortably. Kanz Al Adeed, owned by Khalid Ali Al-Obaidli and trained by Abdulrahman Abdulwahed with Khadija Abdulwahed aboard, finished second, while Azzam FBR, owned and trained by Fahad Rashid Al-Hajri under Abdulla Rashid Al-Hajri, was a length further back in third.

One Nation (GB) (Dubawi x Lacey’s Lane) proved a class above his rivals with a decisive win in the penultimate race of the day, the Thoroughbred Handicap (80–100) for 4YO+ over 1700m, a Class 2 event and the highest-rated race on the card. The 5YO chestnut gelding, drawn in barrier 4, delivered a commanding performance for owner Hamed Ali Al-Mulla and trainer Ahmed Al Jehani, ridden confidently by Arnaud De Lepine to score by 3¼ lengths.
Breaking smartly, One Nation tracked the pace early, settling in fourth just behind the leading trio. Account (Acclamation) and Thor’s Hammer (Night Of Thunder) battled for the lead throughout, exchanging positions several times before Account took control turning for home. As the field straightened up, One Nation was travelling powerfully in third and soon loomed large, taking command approaching the 300m mark. Once in front, he quickly asserted dominance, pulling away to win with authority. Behind him, Cei Connah (El Kabeir), owned by Hassan Ali Alabdulmalik and trained by Debbie Mountain with Mohammed Hassan Ali Alabdulmalik aboard, and Edgartown (Quality Road), representing Wathnan Racing and trained by Alban de Mieulle, with Soufiane Saadi in the saddle, both produced late runs from off the pace to claim second and third respectively, separated by a length.
