Longines is proud to announce its association as the Title Partner of Equita Longines, le Salon
du Cheval de Lyon, of which it has been the Official Partner, Official Timekeeper and Official
Watch since 2013. This event will take place from 31 October to 4 November as the biggest
annual equestrian gathering in Europe. It will be held over five days of national and international
competitions, comprising several disciplines, and will notably host the FEI World Cup’s
dressage, driving and jumping stages.
Indeed, the winged hourglass brand is delighted to present the weekend’s highlight show
jumping trials, the Longines Grand Prix, on Friday and the Longines FEI Jumping World Cup™,
on Sunday, to which Longines is looking forward to providing its timekeeping expertise. The
Friday’s trial will bring together fifty top-level rider/horse couples, offering the spectators
outstanding performance and achievement at the highest level of sport. The best pair will
advance into the jump-off and must be the fastest to win the class. The Sunday’s trial will bring
the world’s best forty rider/horse couples. Many spectators are expected to attend this
qualification leg leading to the prestigious Final taking place in Gothenburg in April 2019.
Longines’ commitment to equestrian sport dates back to 1878, when the brand developed a
chronograph movement fitted in a case engraved with a jockey and his mount. Seen on
American advertisements as early as 1881 and extremely popular among jockeys and horselovers, this model enabled its user to time performances to the seconds. Longines is the Official
Partner, the Official Timekeeper and the Official Watch of international institutions, events, races and competitions. Tradition, Elegance and Performance are values that both equestrian sports and Longines share, which strengthen the profound bounds that the brand has been developing with the equestrian world for more than half a centur
