Grand Prix Day at Al Shaqab: Tour 2 Crowned Its Champions

Three Grand Prix Jump-Offs – CSI3* 1.50m, CSI1* 1.30m and the headline CSI5* 1.60m close Tour 2 of H.H. The Father Amir’s Prix 2026 at the Longines Arena at Al Shaqab. His Excellency Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani, President of the Qatar Olympic Committee and President of the Organising Committee of the Doha Equestrian Tour, awarded the winners of the CSI5* Grand Prix.

Doha Equestrian Tour (DET) 2026 season reached a defining milestone today as Tour 2 of H.H. The Father Amir’s Prix 2026 concluded at the Longines Arena at Al Shaqab with Grand Prix Day. Running from 8-10 January, Tour 2 welcomed more than 240 riders, with overall series prize money exceeding €3.3 million, as CSI5* and CSI3* sport continued to lift the level alongside CSI1* and National competition.

Saturday’s programme featured Tour 2’s key finals, led by the CSI5* 1.60m Grand Prix (Jump-Off), alongside the CSI3* 1.50m and CSI1* 1.30m Grand Prix classes. With a clear first round required to qualify for the jump-off, riders had to balance carefulness and pace early on, before returning for a faster round where time determined the podium places.

Day 3 Programme (Saturday, 10 January)
Day 3 featured a full programme across three arenas, including: CSI3* 1.40m (Accumulator) in the Longines Outdoor Arena, CSI1* 1.15m (Accumulator) in the Longines Indoor Arena, CSI5* 1.50m (Special Two-Phase) in the Longines Outdoor Arena, CSI3* 1.30m (Faults & Time) in the Second Outdoor Arena, CSIY-B/CSIY 1.30m (Jump-Off) in the Longines Indoor Arena, and CSN 1.00m (Special Two-Phase) in the Second Outdoor Arena.

Day 3 then built to three Grand Prix with jump-off: the CSI3* 1.50m Grand Prix (with Jump-Off) in the Longines Outdoor Arena, the CSI1* 1.30m Grand Prix (with Jump-Off) in the Longines Indoor Arena, and the headline CSI5* 1.60m Grand Prix (with Jump-Off) in the Longines Outdoor Arena.

Day 3 delivered Grand Prix Day at full pace, combining accumulator tactics and speed formats with three jump-off finals across CSI1*, CSI3* and CSI5*. The headline CSI5* 1.60m Grand Prix produced a high-quality jump-off, with Scott Brash (GBR) and Hello Jefferson taking the win in 42.66, ahead of Megane Moissonnier (FRA) and Crooner Tame. Brash also topped the CSI3* 1.50m Grand Prix earlier in the day, completing a notable double on Grand Prix Day. Away from the finals, Harry Charles (GBR) and Bandit won the CSI5* 1.50m Special Two-Phase, while Jean Francois Rondoux (FRA) and Inter-Larus added a CSI3* win in the 1.30m Faults & Time.

Qatar recorded another strong home day across categories, led by Hussain Said A M Haidan (QAT) winning the CSI1* 1.30m Grand Prix (Jump-Off) with D Saucedo, heading an all-Qatari top four. Earlier in the programme, Qatar also claimed the CSI1* 1.15m Accumulator through Ali Omar A H Al Ansari (QAT) and the CSIY-B/CSIY 1.30m Jump-Off qualifier through Ibrahim Yousuf Al Mahmoud (QAT).

Qatar continues to lead the CSI1* standings after two weeks, with Hussain Said A M Haidan (QAT) extending his advantage to 40 points after topping both Week 1 and Week 2. He is followed by Saad Ahmed S A Al Saad (QAT) on 34 points, while Bisher Kayali (JOR) has moved into third on 19 points. The next positions remain closely contested, with Jaber Rashid A B Al Amri (QAT) fourth on 18 points, as the CSI1* division maintains strong depth and competition heading into the next stage of the series.
CSI4*/5* Rankings (Total Prize Money: €500,000)

The CSI4*/5* standings have shifted after Week 2, with Scott Brash (GBR) moving into the overall lead on 89 points (34 + 55). He is followed by Janakabhorn Karunayadhaj (THA) on 66, while Eve Jobs (USA) rises to third on 62. The fight remains tight just behind the podium, with Harry Charles (GBR) and Anastasia Nielsen (MON) tied on 59, and Megane Moissonnier (FRA) close on 55 after a strong Week 2. Qatar remains represented in the overall table, led by Sheikh Ali Khalid Al Thani (QAT) on 2 points.
What’s Next
Following the conclusion of Tour 2, the Doha Equestrian Tour 2026 continues with Tour 3 of H.H. The Father Amir’s Prix, taking place at Al Shaqab from 22–24 January 2026. The next tour will once again feature CSI competition across categories, as the series progresses toward the later stages of the four-tour calendar.
